The temperature in the room dropped, raising the hairs on her arms as she tried to swallow.

You are dead to me. Jenna gasped in horror and jerked back from his venomous words. “How can you be so cruel?”
A slow smile spread across his gaunt face, and her father closed his eyes for the last time

Hmm... a very powerful moment. On the first line, is the daughter repeating the father's words before saying 'I hear you?'

The blurb is interesting, but I wonder why Jenna's windfall means that she has to leave Jack.
